Gary Woodland won the Texas Children’s Houston Open in an emotional comeback victory, his first PGA Tour title since brain surgery in 2023 and recent struggles with PTSD. Woodland led by one entering the final round and won by five shots after a closing 67. The win, his fifth career title and first since the 2019 U.S. Open, secures a spot in the Masters and lifts him to No. 51 in the world. Woodland revealed he had been battling severe emotional struggles since surgery, but said speaking publicly about his PTSD recently made him feel “1,000 pounds lighter.” Supported by family, fans and fellow players, Woodland called the victory a hopeful step in his ongoing recovery, saying he is still “in a fight” but proud of how far he has come.
