While TPC Sawgrass is notorious for its difficult terrain, Tommy Fleetwood faced additional challenges during Thursday's opening round at The Players Championship due to concerns about his family. Fleetwood’s wife, Clare, and their three children were stuck in Dubai amid the Middle East conflict but managed to fly to England on Wednesday after multiple delays.

Fleetwood shared, “They were fortunate with their flight. It wasn’t easy or settled, even more so for them stranded in the UAE, but they’re finally safe.”

Despite these worries, Fleetwood shot a commendable 69, tying for fifth place. The family, who often split their time between Dubai and Southport, England, faced difficulties finding flights due to the escalating conflict involving the US-Israel and Iran.

Fleetwood expressed relief, saying, “Knowing they’re safe makes playing easier. Clare felt relieved too.” Fleetwood demonstrated resilience, maintaining focus amid personal stress.
