The Memorial Tournament returns to Muirfield Village with world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler chasing a rare piece of PGA TOUR history. The two-time defending champion is aiming to become the first player since Steve Stricker (John Deere Classic, 2009–11) to win the same TOUR event three years in a row. Scheffler arrives in strong form after a solo third-place finish at THE CJ CUP Byron Nelson.
Rory McIlroy returns to the Memorial for the first time since 2024, while FedExCup No. 2 Cameron Young and No. 3 Matt Fitzpatrick look to continue their excellent 2026 seasons, having combined for five victories. Ludvig Åberg also enters in outstanding form, with six top-eight finishes in his last nine starts, while Charles Schwab Challenge winner Russell Henley seeks another big result after a stellar year.
Founded by tournament host Jack Nicklaus in 1976, the Memorial is one of the PGA TOUR’s most prestigious events. Recent champions include Scheffler (2024, 2025), Viktor Hovland and Billy Horschel, while Tiger Woods remains the tournament’s most successful player with five victories, including a famous three-peat from 1999–2001. Scheffler now has the chance to join Woods as the only player to win the Memorial three consecutive times.
