Marco Penge has announced that he is taking a break from professional golf due to ongoing health issues.
The news comes after a difficult week at the PGA Championship 2026 where the Englishman missed the cut at 12 over par.
Penge revealed last week that he has been dealing with recurring problems affecting his ear, neck and nervous system since suffering a viral infection in November last year. After another sinus infection and symptoms of vertigo, he recently underwent MRI scans on his head and neck.
Although the results brought positive news, the 26-year-old has now decided to prioritise his recovery.
āIām going to take some time off to get my health back to where it needs to be,ā Penge wrote on social media.
Penge is currently in his rookie season on the PGA TOUR following a breakthrough 2025 campaign on the DP World Tour, where he won three times and pushed Rory McIlroy in the Race to Dubai until the season finale.
His best PGA TOUR finish this season came with a tied-fourth result at the Valspar Championship.
