Korda with dramatic finish to win U.S. Women's Open

A nervy final putt sealed Nelly Korda’s second straight major title and her first U.S. Women’s Open crown.

Nelly Korda captured her first U.S. Women's Open title after a dramatic one-shot victory at Riviera Country Club.

The world number one closed with a two-under 69 to finish at eight under par, holding off Charley Hull and Gaby Lopezby a single stroke.

Korda's victory nearly slipped away on the final green. Her short putt for the win caught the edge of the hole and circled around before finally dropping, sparking a mixture of relief and celebration.

“It’s even sweeter, especially with that ice cream swirl on the last hole,” Korda joked afterward.

The 27-year-old had started the week with an opening-round 73 and was seven shots off the lead, but back-to-back rounds of 67 put her firmly back in contention. A crucial birdie on the 17th hole ultimately proved decisive in securing her fourth major championship.

The win continues a dominant season for Korda, who now owns four LPGA victories in just eight starts and has claimed back-to-back majors following her triumph at the Chevron Championship earlier this spring.
