Joaquin Niemann emerged victorious in Korea, claiming his first LIV Golf victory of the year by outlasting Talor Gooch in a tense playoff. Entering the final round tied at nine under, the pressure was palpable at Asiad Country Club.
Gooch had an early lead, birdieing the first while Niemann settled for par. Yet, by the ninth, Niemann was ahead, thanks in part to a spectacular 35-foot birdie on the sixth.
Bryson DeChambeau was also in the mix, securing third after a lively front nine. A mistake from Niemann at the 11th allowed Gooch to draw level again. They traded errors, leading to a playoff decision.
Back on the 18th, Niemann’s precise approach paved the way for his birdie that clinched the title, leaving Gooch to settle with par. This victory ended a long wait since Niemann’s previous win last July at LIV Golf UK, earning him a substantial $4 million prize.
