Iwai Shoots Impressive 63 to Lead JM Eagle LA Championship

Chizzy Iwai surged to a two-shot lead at the JM Eagle LA Championship, shooting a 9-under 63 after an explosive start of 7-under through seven holes, highlighted by an eagle on the 16th. The event, held at El Caballero Country Club, precedes next week’s Chevron Championship. Patty Tavatanakit, Sei Young Kim, and Suvichaya Vinijchaitham sit tied for second at 65. Iwai continued strong on her back nine and nearly pushed for an even lower score. Tavatanakit impressed with eight birdies, while Lauren Coughlin posted 66 and Hannah Green 67. Several others, including Hyo Joo Kim and Lilia Vu, are within range. Defending champion Ingrid Lindblad shot 69, while Alison Lee returned from maternity leave with the same score.
