Ian Poulter is set for knee surgery during the off-season after an unexpected injury at LIV Golf Virginia.
Poulter, co-captain of Majesticks GC, suffered a meniscus tear during the event from May 7 to 10. He opened up about the injury during LIV Golf Korea at Asiad Country Club.
“I felt great after Virginia but tore my meniscus hopping steps there,” Poulter stated after carding a 66. “I had an MRI, and surgery is planned for September.”
Remarkably, the injury hasn't hindered his game. These days, Poulter notes discomfort mainly when walking downhill. “It doesn't affect my swing, but I need to be cautious. No paddle tennis or unnecessary risks!”
The accident coincided with his switch to new McLaren clubs, which he praises for enhancing his performance. Despite the setback, he’s optimistic, tied for 14th, just six strokes from the leaders in Korea, keeping his title hopes alive.
