Chris Wood secured his biggest victory in almost ten years after winning the Italian Challenge Open in Italy.
The former Ryder Cup player birdied the final hole to win by one shot ahead of Tomas Gouveia.
It marks Wood’s first victory on the HotelPlanner Tour and another major step in his comeback following years affected by anxiety, burnout and the loss of his tour status.
The 38-year-old last won a major title at the BMW PGA Championship in 2016 — the same year he made his Ryder Cup appearance — and is now pushing for a return to the DP World Tour.
